Then and Now

In, Then and Now, we're exploring what it means to be a "good dad." For generations, a father’s primary identity was “the provider.” As long as he brought home a paycheck and kept the lights on, he was considered a good dad—even if he was emotionally or spiritually distant. But is this the reality today? There’s a growing expectation (and hunger) for dads to be present—emotionally available, engaged at home, part of the parenting team. Today’s dads are expected to show up at soccer games and in hard conversations. And that’s a good thing. The opportunity? To not just provide for your kids, but to invest in them.
